Rady Children's Text Messaging

Terms and Conditions

  1. By consenting to receive communications from Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego (“Rady Children’s”), you are agreeing to receive text messages (technically known as SMS short code messaging) regarding health care-related services from Rady Children’s, including updates related to their visits, MyChart account, one-time passcode, billing notifications, prescription reminders, and care management.
  2. Text messages from Rady Children’s are automated and are not designed for real time communications, emergencies, or urgent matters. Text messages must never be used in an emergency, nor should they be used to communicate urgent health matters. In an emergency, immediately dial 911 and/or go to the nearest emergency room. For non-emergency urgent matters, please call your physician, go to an emergency room, or dial 911, as necessary.
  3. You can opt-out of the text messaging service at any time. Just text “STOP” to the text message. After you send the text message “STOP” to us, Rady Children’s will send you a text message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive text messages from Rady Children’s.  If you want to join again, sign up using START or text HELP to the short code for instructions.
  4. If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at 858-576-1700 or rservices@rchsd.org.
  5. Wireless providers, known as carriers, are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  6. Message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from Rady Children’s and to Rady Children’s from you. Message frequency may vary.  You will only receive text messages according to the permissions you provided to Rady Children’s. Text message frequency will vary with the number of appointments you schedule. If you have any questions about your texting and data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider directly.

This Text Messaging (SMS Short Code Messaging) Privacy Policy on text messaging (technically known as SMS short code messaging) is intended to inform you of Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego (“Rady Children’s”) policies and practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of any information you submit to Rady Children’s via text messaging. By consenting to be contacted by Rady Children’s via text messaging, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy and the associated Rady Children’s Text Messaging (SMS Short Code Messaging) Terms and Conditions.  As a health care provider, Rady Children’s is committed to protecting your health information, and is bound by federal and state law to do so. Information Rady Children’s collect from you using text messaging will be used solely for health care-related services and other lawful purposes (including your treatment, payment, and our health care operations). Rady Children’s will never share or disclose any of the data obtained from you in any text messaging campaign for marketing purposes or with third parties or affiliates except in accordance with state and federal laws including but not limited to the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”).
