Rady Children’s Hospital is planning a major expansion that will include a new seven-story medical tower and a renovated emergency department. The new tower will include 84 treatment rooms in the emergency department, 140 intensive care rooms, and four more operating rooms. The existing Nelson Pavilion will be dismantled to make way for the new tower. Rady Children’s Hospital is working with Sharp to coordinate construction schedules so that any disruption in patient and employee flow is minimized.
The expansion is a major investment in the future of Rady Children’s Hospital and will help the hospital continue to provide world-class care to children in San Diego and beyond.
“This is a generational transformation. We not only need to make sure we are sized and scaled appropriately in order to meet our needs today, but for the next generation.” – Patricio A. Frias, MD, President and CEO, Rady Children’s Hospital
