Investing in the Future of Rady Children’s Neuro-Oncology Program
For 70 years, children and families have turned to Rady Children’s for the most comprehensive, compassionate care. Rady Children’s is home to an expert oncology team that provides advanced clinical care, support services and the latest technologies for a comprehensive and personalized experience for each patient and their family. Cancer survival rates have increased dramatically since we first opened our doors due to groundbreaking discoveries in specific cancers—but in the field of neuro-oncology, it is critical that we discover more lifesaving therapies with fewer side effects.
Rady Children’s goal is to be the nationally recognized leader in pediatric neuro-oncology research and clinical care. We have the vision and opportunity to improve the lives of children who are diagnosed with a pediatric brain or spinal tumor in our community and beyond.
Meet the Team
Praveen Raju, MD, PhD is the Nathan Gordon Chair in Neuro-Oncology and Director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine. “Pediatric brain and spinal tumors can be difficult to diagnose at times and often have poor outcomes.
“I chose this specialty because I wanted to change those outcomes and give families hope,” said Dr. Raju, who is board-certified in neurology with special qualifications in child neurology. “
Research will be the foundation of this advancement, yet current studies often do not address the translational hurdles that limit bridging exciting laboratory findings with clinical care. Through increased collaboration with the biotechnology industry in San Diego, I’m optimistic that we can dramatically improve patient care.”
