Rady Children’s Family Mourns Loss of Beloved Member

It was with profound sadness that Rady Children’s learned of the death of Roger Roux in a tragic cycling accident on Sunday, June 14.

Roger joined Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego in April, 2003 as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer.  He was responsible for all facets of financial operations, including accounting, budgeting and patient financial services.Roger Roux

During his 12 year tenure, Roger was an integral member of the senior leadership team that helped bring Rady Children’s to its strongest financial performance in its 60 year history. Through the improved fiscal position, the hospital has been able to invest in new facilities and programs to meet the needs of the community.

Under Roger’s leadership, the Hospital’s investment portfolio experienced a seven-fold increase from 2003-2014.  In 2014, Rady Children’s achieved credit ratings of AA- with Stable Outlook and A1 with Positive Outlook from Fitch and Moody’s respectively, marking the Hospital’s highest ranking to date from the credit rating agencies.

A native of Boston, Roger received an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Roger held financial leadership positions at children’s hospitals in Boston, Chicago and Columbus before joining Rady Children’s.

His contributions to Rady Children’s and the San Diego community are simply too many to enumerate. Roger was a dedicated, trusted and collegial member of the Rady Children’s Family and will be missed dearly.

Roger is survived by his beloved family, wife Diane, son Matthew, daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandchildren, Emerson and Xavier. He was 64 years old.

In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that contributions in his memory may be made to the Roger Roux Memorial Fund at Rady Children’s Hospital, 3020 Children’s Way, MC 5005, San Diego, California, 92123.
