Bio

Dr. Kristy Schwartz is a board-certified emergency physician at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego and faculty member in the UC San Diego Department of Pediatrics, subspecializing in pediatric emergency medicine.

She earned her medical degree at Pennsylvania State University and completed her residency in emergency medicine at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix. Dr. Putnam earned her master's in public health from Columbia University in New York City. She completed fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine at Rady Children's. During training, Dr. Putnam served as an educator for EMS and flight crews in Arizona, as well as an emergency ultrasound instructor. She also led a team of HIV educators in Akatsi, Ghana.

Dr. Putnam's clinical and research interests include bedside clinical education, pediatric fractures and traumatic injuries. She has lectured on numerous emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine-related topics on local, regional and international levels. She has also written chapters for textbooks on emergency medicine topics affecting children and adults.

When not working, Dr. Putnam enjoys hiking, traveling, outdoor adventures and spending time with her significant other, who is also an emergency medicine physician.
