A 7-year-old turns a neighborhood lemonade stand into a way to support Rady Children’s
Charlize may be small, but her heart is anything but. The 7-year-old wanted to support patients at Rady Children’s, so she organized and managed a lemonade stand in her neighborhood park. Every dollar she raised was used to help bring joy to kids facing difficult health challenges. Though the act may be simple, the message is not: generosity has no age requirement.
The initiative serves as a heartwarming example of how starting with philanthropy at a young age can inspire compassion, foster leadership and show impressionable kids the power of giving back. Young changemakers can make a big impact at Rady Children’s. Whether it’s organizing a small event with friends or rallying classmates for a cause, every effort makes a difference.
There are countless ways kids can raise money for the Hospital. Here are some examples:
• Follow in Charlize’s footsteps with a lemonade stand
• Turn a birthday party into a fundraiser
• Host a bake sale
• Sell hand-made jewelry or personal artwork
• Launch a virtual toy drive
• Start a dance marathon, walk-a-thon, hoop-a-thon or read-a-thon
• Dedicate a high school senior service project to giving back
