(San Diego May 9, 2012) – Tina S. Nova, Ph.D. has been appointed to a three-year term on the board of Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. “I’m honored to serve as a trustee and plan to help raise awareness about Rady Children’s as a leader in pediatric research,” Nova said. “It’s exciting to be part of a team that is working to find treatments and cures for childhood diseases and injuries that will help children in San Diego – and around the world.”
Dr. Nova currently serves as the President and Co-Founder of Genoptix, Inc., a Novartis Company. Genoptix provides personalized and comprehensive laboratory services to community-based hematologists and oncologists, with expertise in the most challenging diagnoses.
Dr. Nova has also served in leadership positions in numerous businesses including:
• Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer and President of Nanogen, Inc., a provider of molecular diagnostic tests from 1994 to 2000.
• Chief Operating Officer of Selective Genetics, a targeted therapy, biotechnology company from 1992 to 1994.
• Various director-level positions with Ligand Pharmaceuticals Incorporated, a drug discovery and development company from 1988 to 1992.
• Various research and management positions with Hybritech, Inc., a former subsidiary of Eli Lilly & Company and pharmaceutical company from 1984 – 1988
Dr. Nova currently serves on the Board of Directors of Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Adamis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. She formerly was a member of the Board of Directors of Cypress Biosciences, Inc., and was Chair of the Board of Directors of BIOCOM.
Dr. Nova holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside.
