Processing Instructions

Do not centrifuge. Complete UCSD Microbiology/Virology requisition and submit with specimen refrigerated. If ordered STAT, indicate STAT on the requisition form. Ok to thaw specimen. Do not send frozen. Send with scheduled TForce courier in the morning Monday-Friday or call in a RUSH pickup including afterhours and on weekends. Best time to submit samples to UCSD is between 0700-Midnight. Monitor for results to call to clinician in a timely manner.
