When Evan was born, he was diagnosed with hearing loss. Concerned about the possibility of delayed speech, his parents wanted him to wear hearing aids but feared Evan would have trouble adjusting to them at such a young age.
When he was first introduced to the hearing aids, Evan complained that they were too loud, and he didn’t want to wear them. His parents struggled to keep them on him. Gradually, Evan began to adjust and is now happy to have them. He even knows how to recognize what normal hearing is and can tell his parents when the batteries have gone dead.
