Rady Children's Specialists

Clinic for Limb Differences and Amputations

Overview

The Clinic for Patients with Limb Differences and Amputations at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego is dedicated to meeting the unique needs of children and adults with congenital or acquired limb differences through a comprehensive clinic.

Our multidisciplinary team includes experts in physical medicine and rehabilitation, orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work, and nursing who are all trained to provide the special care required by a child with a limb difference. We are committed to helping your child reach their optimal physical and mental function.

Conditions Treated & Services Provided

Working together as a team with you, your child, your therapist, and your pediatrician, the Clinic staff can minimize trips to the hospital and maximize rehabilitation gains for your child.

A comprehensive support program and a consistent rehab plan achieve outcomes that permit children and adults with limb differences/amputations to lead more functional and exciting lives. This is true whether the limb difference is congenital or acquired through trauma, vascular injury, tumors, infections, or other medical problems.

Our Team

Our multidisciplinary team includes a rehabilitation medicine physician, orthopedic surgeon, occupational therapist, physical therapist, social worker, and a nurse coordinator. These professionals have expertise in dealing with complex issues that can arise, and they have seen hundreds of children with limb differences.
