Safe Beginnings

This program is designed for new and expectant parents. This hour-long presentation will include an overview of typical growth and development of children form birth to 3 years of age. Potential injury risks will be described associated with various stages of development and each environment: kitchen, bathroom, cribs and nursery, bathroom, pools and transportation. At the conclusion of the session, parents will have the opportunity to purchase products from the Safety Store.
Duration: 1 hour
Audience: Parents and caregivers of young children. Minimum number of participants: 10; maximum number: 30.

Safe Start

This program is designed for parents and caregivers of children ages 4-8. Topics will include home safety for the more mobile older child, with discussion about  burn prevention, poisoning prevention , drowning prevention, pedestrian and bike safety, playground safety and  booster seat education. At the conclusion of the session, parents will have the opportunity to purchase products from the Safety Store.
Duration: 1 hour
Audience: Parents and caregivers of children ages 4-8. Head Start classes. Parent-teacher organizations. Minimum number of participants:10; maximum number: 30.

Child Passenger Safety

This interactive class will educate parents and caregivers of children birth to 8 years old on the safest options for transporting their children in vehicles. Upon completion of this class participants will be fully informed about child passenger safety laws in California and be able to install, remove and reinstall  their car seat from their vehicle. Information will also be presented on safety in and around vehicles to include prevention of overheating, back over and projectiles. Safe Transportation for airline, rail and bus transportation will be included. Participants must be physically able to install their car seat or bring a partner to assist. This presentation will be held outdoors and will require two parking spaces per vehicle.
Duration: 1.5 hours
Audience:Parents and caregivers of children from birth to 8 years old. Minimum number of participants: six; maximum number: 12.
