Nursing and Patient Care Services
Rady Children’s nurses and patient care services team members serve as local and global leaders in shaping how care is delivered to patients and families throughout our organization and in the communities we serve.
As of 2017, Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego is an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet®-designated organization. We strive for excellence in patient care across our nursing areas.
Nursing and the Patient Care Services team members at Rady Children’s are provided with various opportunities to further their professional nursing practice, collaborate and develop professionally while achieving optimal patient outcomes.
Behind each of these moments is the commitment to learn more, improve outcomes and empower individuals to seek innovative solutions. We are transforming the role of the caregiver, and in that transformation, we are partners in advancing the quality of care. Every day, we look for new pathways.
It is a journey of excellence.
It’s not just caring about children that make our nursing staff so special. It’s the magic. Our dedication to specialized training and sensitivity is perfected by caring for children 100% of the time. Rady Children’s is designed, equipped and staffed just for kids. As the region’s only pediatric trauma center, we care for children with the most severe medical emergencies to those with mild illnesses.
“The profession of nursing has evolved significantly,” says Mary Fagan, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, Rady Children’s Chief Nursing Officer. “Nurses have always been vital members of the health care team, but given their hands-on position at the bedside, they are uniquely positioned to identify important research questions and lead research that significantly improves patient outcomes.”
