Fetal Care Program

Most babies are born healthy, and the pregnancy goes as planned. In some cases, complications can occur, or the unborn baby may be diagnosed with an anomaly. Here at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, we have a specialized Fetal Care program for providing the best possible care to you and your baby.

Rady Children’s Fetal Care Program offers comprehensive maternal-fetal specialized care to expectant mothers and their unborn babies with known anomalies. Expert specialized care including advanced fetal care services is provided by a team of highly skilled and experienced physicians from multiple specialties.

We are not only a leading Fetal Care Program in the state of California, but the specialties involved are nationally known for their outstanding outcomes. U.S. News & World Report ranks Rady Children’s Hospital’s Neonatology program #5 in the country (2021-22), and all 10 specialties surveyed consistently rank among the nation’s best.

Many expectant mothers/patients also continue to see their own obstetrician during their pregnancy. Our healthcare professionals at Rady Children’s Hospital will work with your obstetrician or maternal-fetal medicine specialist to arrange for ongoing diagnostic testing and expert consultation from our specialists. Additionally, our family-centered approach encourages you to be a part of the patient care team and take an active role in making the best decisions for you and your unborn baby.

Neonatal Care from Health Professionals

Our 60-bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Rady Children’s Hospital also provides Level 4 patient care, the highest designation available from the American Academy of Pediatrics. This comprehensive facility extends its expertise beyond neonatal care, with specialized fetal care services to ensure optimal health outcomes for both mothers and infants.
