The multidisciplinary Stone Clinic cares for children with genitourinary (kidney) stones.
Dr. Elizabeth Ingulli (Nephrology) focuses on the medical management of stones, with the goal of reducing the risk of recurrence. Many times, dietary changes and an increase in water consumption are enough to lower the risk, but some children may require medications.
Dr. Sarah Marietti-Shepherd focuses on the surgical management of stones, using various procedures. These include ureteroscopy (looking up the ureter and kidney to remove stones), ESWL (shock wave treatment of stones) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (direct retrieval of stones from the kidney via a small tube in the back).
The Stone Clinic is held on the first Monday and Friday of the month.
