A social story is one way to prepare your child for an upcoming activity or event that is otherwise unfamiliar or unexpected. We have provided several sample social stories for specific procedures and a template below to help you customize a story specific to your child’s situation.
Once you have created the social story, it is best to review the story with your child several times prior to their visit. It is also suggested that you bring your individualized story with you to your child’s appointment to assist with transitions and create a sense of familiarity.
